Principles of Research and Publication Ethics
In scientific articles sent to AYDIN JOURNAL OF ARABIC STUDIES (AYAD), the guidelines related to Scientific Research and Publication Ethics of Higher Education Institutions, ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) recommendations and COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) International Standards for Editors and Authors should be taken into consideration. Plagiarism, data forgery or misleading, duplication of publication, split publication and including people who have not contributed to the research among the authors are unacceptable practices within the ethical rules. In case of any ethical irregularity related to these and similar practices, necessary legal actions will be taken.
a) Plagiarism: Presenting the original ideas, methods, data or works of others as one's own work, partially or completely, without citing them in accordance with scientific rules is considered within the scope of plagiarism. In order to avoid plagiarism, authors should cite in accordance with scientific rules and be careful to cite the sources of all scientific articles included in their research.
b) Data Forgery: Using data that does not actually exist or has been altered in scientific research is considered data forgery. Authors should collect their data within ethical rules and analyze it without subjecting it to any changes that would affect validity and reliability during the process.
c) Distortion: Changing records or data obtained from research, presenting devices or materials that are not used in the research as if they were used, changing or shaping research results in line with the interests of people and organizations receiving support are considered distortion. Authors should be honest, objective and transparent in the information they provide regarding the research process. They should avoid violating ethical rules.
d) Duplication of Publication: Presenting the same publication as separate publications without referencing previous publications is considered publication duplication. The responsibility for publications submitted for evaluation having been previously published elsewhere or being in the evaluation process belongs entirely to the authors. Authors should avoid duplication and take care to submit their original and genuine research.
e) Splitting: Splitting the results of a study into parts in a way that will disrupt the integrity of the study and inappropriately, publishing them in more than one issue and presenting these publications as separate publications is considered as splitting publication. Authors should consider the integrity of the study and avoid splitting the results.
f) Unfair Authorship: Including people who did not contribute to the study as authors or excluding people who did contribute is considered as unfair authorship. All authors must have made sufficient contributions to the planning, design, data collection, analysis, evaluation, preparation of the study for publication and presentation of the final version of the study.
Evaluation Process
Articles sent to AYAD are evaluated by two referees. If one referee gives a negative opinion and the other a positive opinion, the Editorial Board examines the referee reports and determines the article's processing process as sending it to a third referee or returning it to the author. At least two referees must give a positive opinion in order for the article to be published. Articles are checked with Turnitin and/or iThenticate plagiarism software. After the referees' reports are completed, the articles are ready for publication if approved by the Editorial Board and are published in the appropriate number of issues, taking into account the order of acceptance.
Plagiarism Policy
All submitted articles must be scanned and are checked through iThenticate and/or Turnitin (Advanced Plagiarism Detection Software).
Copyright
Copyright aims to protect scientifically prepared articles in detail. In order to protect the rights of the author and to arrange permissions for reprinting or other use of published research, AYAD has a copyright form to which authors must sign all rights when their articles are ready for publication.
AYAD allows authors to use the copyright without restriction and reserves their publishing rights without restriction. It is assumed that submitted papers do not contain any proprietary material not protected by a patent or patent application. Responsibility for technical content and protection of proprietary material belongs solely to the author and institutions and is not the responsibility of AYAD or the Editorial Board. The main author is responsible for ensuring that the article is viewed by all other authors. It is the author's responsibility to obtain all necessary copyright permissions for the use of copyrighted material in the article before submission.
Ethics Committee Permission
“Ethics Committee Permission” is required for the following studies. An approved “Ethics Committee Permission” must be obtained from the institution where the author of the article is employed. Studies requiring Ethics Committee permission are as follows:
